A Legacy Three Generations Deep
In 1954, James Pope purchased a stretch of land just outside of Raleigh and began farming it with a vision—and a deep love for the community he grew up in. He was raised right down the road and chose to root his life and work in Knightdale. Three generations later, we’re still here—tending the same land with the same values.
Our family has faced the ups and downs that come with farming, but our strong faith and commitment to each other have kept us grounded. Through it all, we’ve remained deeply connected to this land, to our roots, and to the people we serve.
What Makes Pope Farms Different?
We’re not just another farm—we’re your neighbors. You’ll find us in the garden, tending the animals, or chatting with folks at the store. What makes us special is our connection to the community and our dedication to raising food that’s honest, local, and raised with care. We’re proud to call Knightdale home. It's rare these days to find a working farm of this size so close to downtown Raleigh—but we’ve held onto our space, our story, and our soil. We believe in growing where you’re planted, and we’re right where we’re meant to be.
Our Mission
As our town and surrounding areas continue to grow, our mission is to grow with them—expanding our direct-to-consumer offerings, increasing accessibility to healthy food, and remaining a trusted local source for meat, produce, and connection.
Rooted in Faith, Growing with Purpose
At Pope Farms, our connection to the land runs deep — three generations deep, to be exact. Since 1954, our family has been farming right here in Knightdale, North Carolina, on the same soil our grandfather, James Pope, began cultivating over 70 years ago. Our faith and love for this land have kept us grounded through every season, storm, and harvest.

Whether we’re planting, harvesting, feeding, fixing, or greeting you at the store, we each play a role in bringing food from our farm to your family.
Faith & Family First: Our farm is built on faith and run by family — and that’s how we keep going strong.
Transparency: We want you to know exactly where your food comes from. Our animals are raised without hormones or additives, and we limit chemicals in our crops.
Preserving Legacy: As urban growth surrounds us, we’re holding tight to our agricultural roots while expanding how we serve our growing community.
Education & Connection: Whether it’s a hayride to our pumpkin patch or a conversation at the farm store, we love connecting folks with the story behind their food.
